Libby Parsons, our August Artist of the Month, has spent her life doing many things, including nursing, travelling, raising children and living abroad. But coming from an artistic family in Quebec, one thing remained constant, her love of art.
In her retirement, Libby focuses on painting beautiful landscapes, pulling inspiration from all over Western Canada, but especially the Okanagan. We are thrilled to showcase her beautiful pieces.

Living in wine country, the focus of the majority of Libby’s paintings is vineyards, mountains and lakes. However, she does enjoy and is challenged to capture other scenery on her travels throughout western and northern Canada. Her focus has been on large canvases, vibrant colour and bold brushstrokes. These elements allow her to capture the impressionistic view of the landscape rather than a detailed rendering and it expresses how she feels about the amazing local landscapes. She starts with a composition but at some point, the painting takes over! A blank canvas is always the start of a new adventure!
