“We are exceptionally proud of these awards”, states Mike Lang, General Manager, “which continues a long tradition of winning awards for our wines almost every year since Guenther Lang began production nearly 25 years ago.”
The 2012 Farm Reserve Riesling was voted the Best of the best, against five other Rieslings from well-known wineries at the Spring Okanagan Wine Festival, in addition to another gold medal awarded at the Northwest Wine Summit. Together with Lang’s other medal winner, the Marechal Foch, both signature wines have gained wide industry recognition.
Two other awards were for new vintages, the Viognier and the Pinot Gris, the latter being awarded both silver and bronze medals. Lawrence Herder, our Winemaker and Viticulturist, notes, “These outstanding Pinot Gris grapes are from a vineyard in the neighbouring Similkameen Valley which has a unique terroir of shale fans that release their acquired daytime heat during the night, producing a fantastic fruit.”
The Pinot Gris offers crisp citrus, grapefruit, spice, lemon and lychee on the palate.
Lang Vineyards was B.C.’s first farm gate winery in 1990, and is one of the premier boutique wineries on the Naramata Bench, with an acclaimed portfolio of white, red, rosé and dessert wines.
