Naramata, BC, August 20, 2013 — Lang Vineyards is proud to announce the addition of Lawrence Herder to the Lang team. Lawrence will be taking over the role of Winemaker & Viticulturist at Lang’s after the departure of Richard Kiltz, who was the former winemaker during the 2012 Vintage.
General Manager Mike Lang states “ We are extremely pleased to be adding Lawrence to our team and look forward to a bright future together with him.” He also stated “Lawrence brings a lot of experience to the table and will be working together with us to take Lang Vineyards to the next level”.
Lawrence Herder has worked as a winemaker in Sonoma & Paso Robles, California and at several wineries in the Okanagan and Similkameen valleys. After operating his own winery and developing several vineyards over the past years, Lawrence is ready to bring that experience over to Lang’s. Together they intend to continue traditional Lang wine styles and growing practices while introducing new opportunities of custom processing for other wineries. Lawrence states “Lang Vineyards has state of the art equipment and facilities, 50 year old vineyards and the capacity to grow.” He is proud to be a part of a legacy team with Guenther, Hans and Mike Lang resulting in a very bright future for Lang wines. Production will encompass the estate vineyards and a few select contracted vineyards with a focus on Marechal Foch, Riesling and Pinot Noir. Lawrence will be creating a new old vines legacy series from the 50-year-old vines on the property. He will also introduce a small lots program for the future from selected super premium vineyards including new varietals such as Syrah and Viognier. Mike Lang states “Since the inception of Lang Vineyards, we have produced award-winning wines and our new winemaker will endeavor to continue this and build upon that.“
Lang Vineyards would also like to thank Richard Kiltz for his hard work during the 2012 vintage and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
