When thinking of our October 2020 Wine of the Month, our 2017 Syrah, we couldn’t think of a dessert more fitting than pie. But then we fell upon the age-old question: Pecan or Pumpkin?

Our Syrah is earthy with well balanced oak, fruit, and spice, making it a wonderful addition to a sweet yet savoury dessert. Pecan Pies are silky and smooth, this classic southern sugar pie ticks so many boxes with its diverse texture, earthy nuts, and controlled sweetness. Then there are pumpkin pies. A true symbol of changing seasons that symbolises both fall and harvest time, this spiced custard pie has a taste all its own.

We wanted to create the mother of all seasonal pies so we present to you, a Pecan Pumpkin Pie *oooh, ahhh*. Pick up a couple of bottles of 2017 Syrah and enjoy them with this family favourite recipe. Let us know what you think!
